The Nanaimo Medical Staff Engagement Society and the Division of Family Practice invite you to attend:
Local Infiltration: The Domain of the Anatomically Destitute
The learning objectives for the evening are as follows:
- Discuss the basic pharmacology of amide and ester local anesthetics
- Describe the pertinent anatomy for nerve blocks in the head, neck, and hand
- Describe the common risks and complications of local anesthetics
- Manage local anesthetic toxicity
During the hands-on portion of the evening willing participants are invited to practice some of the nerve blocks on each other*.
This fulfills learning objective #5: Gain the knowledge and skillset to perform the following nerve blocks:
1) supraorbital blocks
- intraoral infraorbital blocks
- intraoral mental nerve blocks
2) intraoral lingual nerve blocks
3) intraoral inferior alveolar nerve blocks
- digital nerve blocks in the hand
- dorsal radial and ulnar nerve blocks
- total ear blocks
